Where does my DNA sample go to?

Once your cheeks have been swabbed, your sample is couriered by us to Nordic Laboratories in Denmark.

Nordic Laboratory focuses on functional medicine. Functional medicine uses a systems-based approach, engaging both the patient and the practitioner to address the underlying causes of illness, not simply to treat the symptoms.

For the past 15 years the staff, doctors and scientists at Nordic have been striving to provide the most scientifically proven, accurate and reliable tests to their clients.

Laboratory tests reveal who we are physically. Testing for ‘lifestyle’ genes has opened up new possibilities for practitioners to tailor diets to unique individual needs. In depth knowledge provided by DNA testing and further laboratory testing allows people to make informed decisions about their current and future lifestyle choices.

TO KNOW YOUR BODY, IS TO KNOW YOURSELF.

Nutrigenomics is new, however, high expectations have been placed on the science of diet-related diseases and how best to prevent these chronic diseases that often begin with weight gain and obesity.

The invention of Polymerase Chain Reaction ( PCR) in 1998, caused great excitement in molecular biology by providing access to a method of amplifying deoxyribonucleic acid ( DNA) molecules across several orders of magnitude. New tools that have allowed highly detailed molecular studies of nutrients have helped change the field of nutrition.

Subtle changes of gene expression even at the single- cell level can now be measured by quantitativetechniques such as real-time PCR and high-density micro analysis.

Patterns of gene expression, protein expression and then metabolite production in response to nutrients can be seen as ‘dietary signatures’

Once this complex extraction process is completed and a report has been compiled, Nordic Laboratory sends this information on to the practitioner and the process of making these scientific findings into a workable solution for the client begins.

Clients are often impatient while waiting for the exciting news, and sometimes question the costs involved. A clearer understanding of the complexities of molecular biology as well as choosing a trusted laboratory are part of the service we, at Nourish and Nutrition place at the pinnacle of our business.

You trust us with your health and concerns and we go all the way to deliver the best possible nutrition solutions.
